Who We Are
The Plumber Company Makawao Homeowners Trust
Masters Plumbing Service is a licensed, fully insured plumbing service operating across Makawao, HI. Our team consists of master plumbers and apprentices who carry active HI licenses and complete annual code-update training — because the plumbing code changes, and your contractor should know about it.
Our Makawao service hub keeps technicians staged throughout the area so we're not driving 45 minutes to your house while a burst pipe runs unchecked. Fast arrival isn't a slogan for us — it's a logistical commitment backed by how we staff and deploy our crews.
We are fully licensed in HI, carry general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage on every technician, and we permit work that requires it. That last part matters more than it sounds: an unpermitted plumbing repair can void your homeowner's insurance coverage for related water damage, and it can complicate a home sale. We pull permits, schedule inspections, and close them out correctly.

Warning Signs
Don't Ignore These — They Cost More the Longer You Wait
Most plumbing problems give warning signs before they become expensive disasters. Here's what Makawao homeowners should watch for — and why waiting makes every one of them worse.
01
Slow Drains Throughout the House
When two or more drains run slow simultaneously in your Makawao home, the blockage is almost always in the main line, not individual fixture traps.
02
Water Bill Spike With No Explanation
Hidden supply line leaks in Makawao homes waste thousands of gallons before they surface. A meter check with all fixtures off confirms whether water is escaping.
03
Discolored or Rusty Hot Water
Rusty hot water in Makawao, HI homes typically means the water heater is past mid-life and the tank lining has begun corroding. Anode rod replacement may buy time; tank inspection tells you how much.
04
Low Water Pressure at Multiple Fixtures
Pressure drops at one fixture point to a clog or a partially closed supply valve. Pressure drops at multiple fixtures simultaneously suggest a main supply problem or significant scale buildup inside supply lines.
05
Running Toilet That Won't Stop
The sound of water running in the tank between flushes is a flapper or fill valve issue. Neither is expensive to fix, but both compound into significant water costs if ignored.
06
Wet Spots or Stains on Ceilings and Walls
Active in-wall leaks in Makawao, HI homes create conditions for mold growth within 24–48 hours of sustained saturation. Locating and repairing the leak quickly limits both structural damage and remediation scope.
07
Gurgling Sounds in Drains or Toilets
Gurgling when a toilet is flushed, or when the washing machine drains, points to a venting issue or a partial main line blockage. Air displaced by water flow has nowhere to go and creates the gurgling sound.

Gas Line Services
HI-Certified Gas Line Work — Safe & Tested
Gas line work belongs in a short list of plumbing tasks where there is truly no acceptable shortcut. Masters Plumbing Service's certified gas plumbers in Makawao, HI carry combustible gas detectors to every job and conduct a timed manometer pressure hold test on every repaired or installed segment before restoring gas to the line.

"Called Masters Plumbing Service at 1:30 AM — burst pipe, water spreading across the kitchen floor. I expected to wait until morning or pay triple time. The dispatcher was calm, professional, and had someone at my door in under 50 minutes. Repair was completed by 3 AM, the tech left the area dry, and I had hot water by breakfast. Exceptional emergency service."

"Gas water heater wasn't lighting. Masters Plumbing Service came out same day, tested the thermocouple output with a meter, confirmed it was reading 8mV when the gas valve needs at least 25mV to stay open, and replaced the thermocouple and pilot assembly. Done in under an hour, came in exactly at the quoted price. Very professional — would call again without hesitation."

FAQ
Plumber FAQ — Answers for Makawao, HI Homeowners
These are the actual questions our dispatchers and technicians answer every day in Makawao, HI.
Our emergency response target in Makawao is under 60 minutes, but the realistic range depends on time of day, traffic conditions, and current call volume. We give you an honest ETA at dispatch — not the best-case number that looks good on a website.
Yes — every time, without exception. Our technicians in Makawao, HI present a written flat-rate quote after diagnosing the problem and before beginning any repair work. You review the quote, ask questions, and decide whether to proceed. The price you approve is the price you pay — we don't add labor time or material markups after the fact.
Masters Plumbing Service's emergency dispatch in Makawao, HI is available around the clock, 365 days a year. The emergency services we handle after hours in Makawao include: burst and ruptured pipe repair, active sewer backups, water heater failure (gas and electric), major drain blockages affecting multiple fixtures, gas line leaks (after utility shutoff), frozen pipe response, and main water line failures.
We also background-check every technician before hire and re-screen annually. Your home and family's safety matters, and we staff accordingly.
We document warranty terms specifically because verbal warranties are unenforceable and lead to disputes. When you get a receipt from Masters Plumbing Service, the warranty terms are on that receipt — not implied, not "of course we'd come back" — actually written down.
For active water leaks: locate your main water shutoff valve (typically at the meter, in the utility room, or under an exterior wall) and close it clockwise until it stops. Move valuables off wet floors. Don't use electrical outlets near standing water. For sewer backups: stop using all drains and toilets immediately — continued use worsens the backup. For gas smells: leave the building, don't operate any switches, and call your utility company's emergency line from outside first.
If the meter test confirms water loss, call us before opening any walls. Our acoustic and thermal detection equipment locates leaks to within inches in most cases — which means a small, targeted access opening instead of a speculative wall demolition.
Commercial plumbing service in Makawao, HI operates under the same 24/7 dispatch model as our residential service. We understand that a plumbing failure at a restaurant or retail property has immediate revenue implications, and we respond accordingly.
Often, yes — if a CCTV camera scope confirms the pipe is a candidate for trenchless CIPP (cured-in-place pipe) lining. Trenchless lining installs a structural epoxy sleeve inside the existing pipe from an access point — no trenching over the pipe run. It's effective for cracked pipes, root-infiltrated joints, and minor deformation as long as the host pipe retains enough structural integrity to hold the liner during the curing process.
Masters Plumbing Service handles the full range of water heater services in Makawao, HI: diagnosis and repair for gas and electric tank units (thermocouple, pilot assembly, gas valve, heating elements, thermostats, T&P valve, anode rod); tankless water heater repair including igniter assemblies, flow sensors, heat exchanger descaling, and error code diagnosis; and full replacement for units beyond economic repair, including conversion from tank to tankless where the infrastructure supports it.
Plumbing costs in Makawao, HI vary significantly based on the type of repair, pipe material, access conditions, and parts required. Rather than give you a range that's too wide to be useful, Masters Plumbing Service provides a flat-rate quote after on-site diagnosis — before any work starts. That quote is accurate because we've seen the specific failure, not estimated based on a description.
Pulling permits matters beyond legal compliance: an unpermitted plumbing repair can void homeowner's insurance coverage for related water damage and can create title issues when selling the property. We handle permit procurement and inspection coordination as part of the job — permit costs are disclosed in your flat-rate quote.
